Straight Answers About Pricing - No Guesswork, No Surprises!

We know one of the first questions people ask about solar is: how much does it cost? So here’s the truth — solar pricing depends on your property (business or home), your goals and the system’s size and features. But we’re here to make it easy to understand.

For Businesses

Commercial systems are typically priced by capacity, measured in kWp (kilowatt peak — being the power the solar panels generate in ‘Standard Test Conditions’ of 1000Wm-2, 25°c, which pretty much equates to optimal conditions).

The actual system price depends on factors including the type of roof, system size, inverter and panel choice, distance between the solar panels and electrical supply location and safe working access requirements. For larger systems, economies of scale would typically lead to prices nearer the lower end of the range.

The inclusion of batteries will add to the system price, with factors including the type and brand of battery, the battery capacity and the system configuration (including where the battery storage is to be used to provide resilience against power outages) all influencing the overall price.

We help by formulating and setting out different system options tailored to the specific needs of each business and advising on the costs and benefits of each.

4.5 m² of roof space

Each 1 kWp of solar panels needs about 4.5 m² of roof space

£600 - £1,200 per kWp

Systems are typically priced at £600 – £1,200 per kWp for roof-mounted systems, before adding batteries (where included)

For Homes

Domestic solar systems generally range from £4,000 to £7,000 for a typical solar-only system (around 3–5 kWp) £8,000 to £15,000+ for larger systems and for systems that include battery storage.

The size of your roof, household electricity use, extent of battery capacity and whether you want resilience during power cuts all influence the final cost.

Ground-Mounted Systems & Solar Carports

If roof space is limited — or if you want to maximise solar output in open areas — ground-mounted systems and solar carports can be excellent options.

Ground-mounted systems are typically priced at approx.
£1,000 – £1,500 per kWp

Solar carport systems
typically cost
£1,700 – £2,200 per kWp

These systems involve additional structural and groundwork costs, but they can unlock solar potential where roof space is limited or shade is an issue — while offering added value such as vehicle protection or EV charging.

£4,000 - £7,000

£4,000 to £7,000 for a typical solar-only system (around 3–5 kWp)

£8,000 - £15,000

£8,000 to £15,000+ for larger systems and for systems that include battery storage

Ground-mounted systems

Ground-mounted systems are typically priced at approx. £1,000 – £1,500 per kWp

Solar carport systems

Solar carport systems typically cost £1,700 – £2,200 per kWp

“Luke and the team were super helpful and very speedy. We had our solar panels cleaned, netted off (from pigeons) and checked over. They even sent someone back out to help with the app set up as it was not working properly. Very helpful.”

"A great company to use to install solar panels. All the options were discussed with us and explained in ways we could understand. Communication was always fast and nothing seemed too much trouble. Everyone we dealt with was really friendly from start to finish and the workmen tidied up really well after installation as well."

"We were lucky to get a grant from the Worcestershire County Council which was even more of a reason to go with Econergy because the team helped us through obtaining the grant and made sure we had the correct information, which I might add can be quite daunting. Everyone from the sales team, the scaffolders, electricians and the installers have been a pleasure to work with..."

Luke and his staff were extremely kind and helpful with technical advice concerning solar equipment installed by a third party.

Their help has cured a complicated technical problem for which I am extremely thankful and very pleased at now having a very competent solar company to work with in the future. Namely Econergy Solutions
