The Challenge
Spring Tooling was keen to lower its overheads by reducing energy bills; they had received an energy assessment by independent energy consultant that had highlighted that they could use their roofspace to fit solar panels and generate their own electricity and were keen to find a reputable supplier who could provide an effective solution.
Why Econergy?
Econergy was able to ‘hold the customer’s hand’ and help them through the process every step of the way, from explaining the different technology options, talk through whether battery energy storage was a strong option or not (it wasn’t in this case), prepare a few proposals based on different options so that the costs and benefits (including return on investment) could be evaluated, dealing with the National Grid and helping to secure a grant.
Econergy was also able to co-ordinate some remedial work to the factory gutters and roof, so that it could be undertaken alongside the installation of the solar system.
Our Solution
Econergy undertook a shading analysis and designed a system solution based on the use of SolarEdge optimisers so that system losses due to partial shading will be minimised.
Econergy designed the system to make effective use of the available roof-space, including fitting panels neatly around existing rooflights.
Alongside the solar system installation, Econergy arranged for the repairs of both guttering and areas of the roof where leaks had been a problem for Spring Tooling.
Results & Impact
Since the system was installed in late October it has generated solar electricity in line with the pre-installation forecasts that Econergy provided.
Spring Tooling has also enjoyed a leak-free roof and gutters!
