Luke’s vision, as co-founder of Econergy, is to grow a thriving solar energy business based on providing quality and value to customers across the Midlands. Using his experience in team building, Luke has put together and oversees a team of solar professionals committed to delivering an excellent service to all Econergy customers, from first engagement and building an understanding of customers’ needs to post-installation care and maintenance.

Jamie Barnett

Co-Founder

Having found it difficult to identify reliable companies to help improve the energy performance of his properties, Jamie established Econergy, with Luke, to develop a business that can help customers across the Midlands reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions through installing high quality solar energy systems. Jamie supports Econergy in a non-executive role and helps shape the company’s strategy around the principles of providing excellent service and value for money.

John Blower

Head of Business Development

John has more than 25 years’ experience in the UK solar PV industry and is a former chair of the UK’s solar PV trade association, Solar Energy UK (previously named the Solar Trade Association). John was part of the solar industry team that developed the training program for the installation of solar PV systems which provided the basis for NICEIC’s solar PV qualification.

Matt Rouse

Project Manager

Matt is our Project Manager specialising in solar and battery energy systems. With over 10 years of hands-on experience in the industry, Matt has worked across the full spectrum of solar installations — from small residential setups to large-scale 14-Megawatt solar farms. He is a fully qualified electrician with advanced certifications in both solar and battery storage technologies and has worked in most solar environments including residential homes, agricultural properties, and high-rise buildings.

Narendrakishanth Thiyagarajan

Design Engineer

Naren is a highly experienced solar design engineer whose expertise spans system design from residential to large commercial scale systems. Naren’s career in solar PV began in Sri Lanka in 2017, having previously gained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. After working on a wide range of solar design projects, which extended in size up to 3MWp, Naren moved to the UK in 2021 and undertook a Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering at Brunel University.

Colin Morris

Lead Solar Roofer

Colin has over 20 years’ experience of installing solar PV arrays for both residential and commercial projects working with a wide range of roof types including tiles, slates, trapezoidal metal and flat roofs; his expertise includes working with a variety of roof mounting hardware, panel interconnection, routing of DC cables and implementing safe working procedures.

The Econergy Story

Econergy is a specialist solar energy company founded by Jamie Barnett and Luke Rawlins.

Jamie, who owns a successful property business, was looking to improve the energy performance of his properties and realised two things:

1. solar energy systems can often be the most cost-effective way of lowering energy costs for a property;

2. it wasn’t easy to find a reliable solar energy business to advise on how best to implement solar systems in his properties.

And so Econergy was established to provide a specialist solar energy service to businesses in the Midlands. Recognising that they weren’t solar energy specialists themselves, Jamie and Luke went about assembling a team of experts with decades of solar industry expertise so that Econergy today has a team well positioned to provide an excellent service to Midlands’ businesses.
